Although 𝓞 is not extant here, there is clearly room in a rather small lacuna in 𝓞 for the adverb also. The 1874 RLDS edition accidentally omitted the also here; the 1908 RLDS edition restored it. A similar example of this usage is found in Alma 27:27: “and they were also distinguished for their zeal towards God and also towards men”.
Summary: Retain in Alma 26:31 the occurrence of also in the conjoined structure “towards their brethren and also towards us”.
