Ammon now turns from the Lamanites’ salvation to the salvation extended personally to him and his brothers. In verse 17, he describes the path that they individually walked. They had attempted to destroy Yahweh’s church; but rather than destroy them, Yahweh transformed them. Very likely Ammon saw the Lamanite transformation as directly parallel to that of him and his brothers. All were enemies of the Yahweh (or the church), and all had been transformed into powerful witnesses for Yahweh.
