“I Know That I Am Nothing”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
Man is nothing, Moses declared after having viewed the expanses of eternity and after learning of the majesty and power of God (see Moses 1:10). Yet when the power of God is placed upon us, an endowment that-assuming worthiness on our part-is rightfully ours as his offspring, we can do all things in his name. In short, man is nothing without divine intervention.

“I Know That I Am Nothing”

I call upon the weak things of the world, the Lord announced in our dispensation, “those who are unlearned and despised, to thrash the nations by the power of my Spirit; and their arm shall be my arm, and I will be their shield and their buckler; and I will gird up their loins, and they shall fight manfully for me; and their enemies shall be under their feet; and I will let fall the sword in their behalf, and by the fire of mine indignation will I preserve them” (D&C 35:13-14).
