“Blessed Be the Name of Our God; Let Us Sing to His Praise”

Brant Gardner

Ammon praises Yahweh for this achievement, then notes two positive effects of their mission. Some Lamanites no longer hate the Nephites, and they have been converted to the true religion, and second, they are no longer enemies to the Nephites. Interestingly enough, he mentions the second point first. If he had been listing them in order of importance, the Anti-Nephi-Lehies’ conversion is more important; but it is more interesting that they are no longer enemies.

Both points are very closely related. Those who no longer harbored hatred were the same as those who were no longer “strangers to God.” They made the tremendous cultural and religious change away from the traditions of their fathers to embrace the Nephite people and gospel.
