When the Amulonites in the east wilderness had been completely overthrown, the remnant of the Lamanite army struggled back across the narrow strip of wilderness to return to their own land. However, many of the Lamanites gathered up their families and went directly to the land of Ishmael, hoping they could find the missionaries.
