The fact that "the Amalekites and the Amulonites and the Lamanites who were in the land of Amulon, and also in the land of Helam, and who were in the land of Jerusalem" (Alma 24:1) are mentioned together in the same verse might imply that these lands were generally grouped together and located somewhat apart from the general area where the converts had been coming from.
