Brant Gardner notes that when we read "they did lay down their weapons of rebellion" we have the immediate picture of arrows, swords, and other weapons which inflict physical wounds However, there is another way in which we may read this verse, perhaps justified by the phrase which follows: "they did not fight against God any more." A weapon of rebellion can be anything that we use in our lives to combat the transformation the spirit is pushing us toward to get closer to God.
