“He Was Struck As if He Were Dead”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

The king utters a sentence that conveys the pure essence of the gospel of Jesus Christ, i.e., that we are to give away all our sins to know God. In his new state of mind, so different from his previous attitudes and desires, the king falls into a state of rapture that is misinterpreted by the queen as a sign of death. In fact, he is overpowered by the Spirit as he makes the inner commitment to change his life for good. We will know God if we are willing to “give away all [our] sins.”
