Lamoni’s father further quoted Ammon’s warning, during their confrontation, of the conditions of salvation and being “cast off.” He is not only a king but a king over kings. He may be used to casting others off, but he does not expect the term to be applied to himself. It may be reasonable, therefore, that the audacity of Ammon’s statement to him and subsequent sparing of his life made enough of an impression that he would eagerly ask for an explanation.
