This verse must have come as a great surprise to Aaron. It contained four provisions. First, the king assured Aaron and his companions that he would spare their lives. Second, he would not consider them his servants. Third, his one request was that they minister to him. The king had been doing a lot of thinking. He saw that Ammon had been very generous in sparing his life even though the king was intending to kill Ammon.
He was also very impressed with the words of Ammon. The king had never met such a human being. He also wondered why Ammon did not come to see him. Aaron sensed that something wonderful was developing in the mind of the king which could be a great blessing to the missionaries. He therefore undertook to answer the king the best he could.
