“They Were Led by the Spirit of the Lord”
These courageous and faithful missionaries depended on the Spirit of the Lord to give direction as to where they should go and what they ought to preach. To the early missionaries of this dispensation the Lord said: “Neither take ye thought beforehand what ye shall say; but treasure up in your minds continually the words of life, and it shall be given you in the very hour that portion that shall be meted unto every man” (D&C 84:85).
