Why does Aaron begin with this question? The Amalekite has asked how it is that Aaron suggest that they were in need of repentance, and this is the response that Aaron gives. It is an ironic twist that in this exchange Aaron asks this question, where the question is one of testing in the mouth of Zeezrom when he confronts Alma and Amulek (see Alma 11:32-34). This is not a mistake, but a certainty on Aaron’s part that this is where the primary focus of the Nehorite error lies.
