“Go to the Land of Middoni”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

The voice of the Lord directs Ammon not to go to the land of Nephi, as Lamoni had requested, for Lamoni’s father would seek his life; rather, he was to go to the land of Middoni to seek the deliverance of his brother Aaron and also Muloki and Ammah, who were in prison.

We note with interest that the revelation advises him of the predicament of his brethren and charges him to rectify the situation, yet it gives no suggestion as to how that might be accomplished. Nevertheless Ammon proceeds without questions or doubts on what would appear to a daunting task. Well might he have said, as did Nephi before him, “I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do” (1 Nephi 4:6).
