“Thou Shalt Go to the Land of Middoni”

Brant Gardner

Even though the idea of preaching to the Lamanite over-king, particularly in the land of Nephi, would have been very attractive to Ammon, the Lord knew that there were other important tasks and directed Ammon’s efforts to his brethren’s rescue in Middoni.

Aaron is the Ammon’s biological brother, as are Omner and Himni (Mosiah 27:34), but Muloki and Ammah are simply fellow travelers. The record provides no indication why Ammon chose to travel alone, while Aaron took two companions.

Variant: Verse 20 began with “and it came to pass” in the printer’s manuscript and in the 1830 edition.
