Why did all those converted bear a similar testimony?

Thomas R. Valletta

“Once they understand the gospel plan, converts know to whom they must turn for mercy and forgiveness. Notice the initial exclamations made by those who repented and were born again. When Lamoni regained consciousness, he stood and bore witness of the Savior (Alma 19:13), as did his queen (Alma 19:29). Many people have an intense desire to bear witness of Christ once they have experienced the blessings of his atonement. This witness may be given in words, but as has been illustrated in these chapters of the Book of Mormon, people witness Christ’s reality frequently and powerfully by their lives. They take the Lord’s request to heart: ‘Show forth good examples unto them in me.’ (Alma 17:11.)” (Fronk, “Show Forth Good Examples in Me,” 333).
