King Lamoni demonstrates that he has understood Ammon’s message by his response—immediately repenting and praying for forgiveness. Lamoni did not simply accept the logical coherence of Ammon’s account as an intellectual exercise; he clearly saw that he needed to change his way of life. He prays for Yahweh’s “abundant mercy.” His faith has moved him to action.
