“Son of God Should Come and Would Appear Unto Them After His Resurrection”

Brant Gardner

Mormon recapitulates Alma’s theme of the Messiah’s coming and his role in the resurrection of the dead. Just as Yahweh was victorious over Ammonihah, so Alma and Amulek are victorious in their preaching. The people begin to inquire about the Son of God and look forward to his coming and resurrection. Each of these themes, important in the verbal conflict between Amulek and Zeezrom, is the direct “victory” of the Nephite gospel over Ammonihah’s attempt to suppress them.
