“Anti–Nephi–Lehi”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

The Lamanites went to war against the Nephites in the city of Ammonihah because they were angry over the converted Lamanites, the Anti-Nephi-Lehies, who were slain as a result of their covenant of peace (Alma 24:17–30; 25:1–2; on the name Anti-Nephi-Lehies, see commentary at Alma 23:16–18). Zoram, a righteous man, became chief captain over the Nephite armies and led them to victory (not the same man as the later apostate named Zoram; see Alma 30–31). Alma and Amulek continued to preach and witnessed another period in which Zion was established.
