Mormon does not relate the outcasts’ reaction to the sorrowful message that Alma and Amulek delivered, but it is easy to imagine the joy with which they learned of Alma and Amulek’s miraculous deliverance, dashed quickly by the bitter anguish of learning their families’ fates.
