“Alma and Amulek Were Commanded to Depart Out of That City”

Brant Gardner

Mormon now ties this episode to that mentioned in Alma 14:7–8. Zeezrom and other male believers were driven from Ammonihah, and their wives and children were sacrificed while Alma and Amulek watched. At this point, we learn that the exiled men went, apparently in a group, to the land of Sidom.

Geography: Sidom is a “land,” apparently not a city, lying eastward from Ammonihah. Without knowing the location of the exiles, Alma may have chosen this route because it was on the way to Aaron, the city he was attempting to visit when the angel instructed him to return to Ammonihah.
