While Alma’s discourse worked through three subthemes (the first and second deaths and the priesthood), all three had the purpose of highlighting the Messiah’s atoning mission. Thus, he concludes by noting the Messiah’s imminent coming. Just as the gospel has been declared by the righteous, he proclaims that righteous men will also herald the Messiah’s arrival.
