“Angels Are Declaring It Unto Many”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Alma announced that “angels [Hebrew malachim, ‘messengers’] are declaring [glad tidings] unto many at this time in our land” (for example, see Alma 10:10; 39:19). These messengers could be mortals on earth or angels from heaven. Why had they come? To prepare the people’s hearts to receive the Savior and his word when he would come in his glory (see also Alma 16:16) to perform the most glorious mission in the history of this, or any other, world. Angels will declare to “just and holy men” at the time of his coming that the prophecies of the holy prophets are in process of fulfillment (see “All the Prophets Prophesied of Christ,” accompanying the commentary at Mosiah 13:33).

Messengers from God are declaring glad tidings—truths from heaven—now, in our day, to prepare our hearts for the Messiah’s coming in glory.
