“Account of Their Exceeding Faith and Repentance and Their Righteousness Before God”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

By their faith, repentance, and good works, worthy individuals merited being called to the high priesthood and sanctified by the Holy Ghost, becoming pure and spotless by having their garments “washed white through the blood of the Lamb” (see commentary at 1 Nephi 12:10–11). There are an “exceedingly great many” who are exalted and enter into God’s rest, which, again, is the fulness of his glory (D&C 84:24). Alma admonishes us to follow their example and become one of them, humbling ourselves and bringing forth fruit meet for repentance, laboring for the Lord and having all our sins forgiven (D&C 31:5).
