The priests with the correct authority from the Son are to teach the commandments of the Son to the people so that they might enter into his rest. Here Alma unites his subthemes. First, by the plan of redemption humankind may be redeemed from the temporal and spiritual death. The spiritual (second) death comes from wrong choices; therefore, Yahweh issues commandments to identify right and wrong choices. These commandments are transmitted by priests, whose righteousness qualifies them to receive the Son’s authority.
