Alma has described a situation that is not permanently acceptable to Yahweh. Humankind must die and suffer temporal death. The great prize of knowledge also brings sin, since we inevitably transgress that knowledge. Alma has just spoken of the fate of the unrepentant. This situation is one with no good result—only temporal death and, ultimately, spiritual death.
