“For Behold, He Knows All Thy Thoughts”

Brant Gardner

Rhetoric: Alma’s opening statements attack the weak point that Amulek has identified. Zeezrom is trembling because he has unexpectedly been caught in his own trap. Alma reinforces Amulek’s illumination of Zeezrom’s dark plan. Next he makes sure that the assembled crowd knows that they are as guilty as Zeezrom. Alma includes the entire audience, even as he most specifically engages Zeezrom, by reminding them: “I would that ye should remember that what I say unto thee I say unto all.”
