Text: This new chapter follows one of the most regular of Mormon’s chapter break indicators. (See Mosiah, Part 1: Context, Chapter 2, “Mormon’s Structural Editing of the Book of Mormon: Chapters and Books.”) In changing to a different person’s discourse, he begins a new chapter with a brief introductory text. Like Mormon’s other interjections, it is apparently Mormon’s interpretation of Alma’s reasons rather than material specifically mentioned in his source material.
