Textual: This new chapter follows one of the most regular of Mormon's chapter break indicators. He has changed to a different person's discourse, and so he begins a new chapter. In this case, he finished with Amulek's discourse, however prematurely (see the comments at the end of chapter 11). We now have Mormon's introductory text to Alma's discourse. As with the other interjections, this appears to be Mormon's interpretation of Alma's reasons rather than anything that would be specifically mentioned in his source material.
