“He Cannot Save Them in Their Sins”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Even the Omnipotent One, the Lord Jehovah, cannot save his people in their sins. He came on a search-and-rescue mission to save people from their sins. But no one, not the least and lowliest of mankind or the mightiest Apostle and prophet, can be saved in sin. Such is the divine decree.

Speaking of the Amulek-Zeezrom encounter, Nephi later said: “For he said unto him that the Lord surely should come to redeem his people, but that he should not come to redeem them in their sins, but to redeem them from their sins. And he hath power given unto him from the Father to redeem them from their sins because of repentance.” (Helaman 5:10-11.)
