“Zeezrom Was a Man Who Was Expert in the Devices of the Devil”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Amulek and Zeezrom (whom we might denominate the “president of the Ammonihah Bar Association”) engaged in a public discussion over religious principles. Zeezrom, after employing a lie and a bribe and in his clearly litigious manner tried to trick the missionary in his teachings about the nature of God. “Is there more than one God [or Godhead, as we would say]?” No, there is only one Godhead: the Father; his Son, who would come into mortality to save his people from their sins; and the Holy Spirit, who would accompany that Son during his ministry in the flesh.

“Is the Son of God the very Eternal Father?” “Yea, he is the very Eternal Father [or, Creator] of heaven and earth.” Amulek could have launched into a detailed treatise of the various roles of the Son as a Father, but it is seldom productive with those who are not members, and especially with antagonists, to depart from the basics. Amulek intentionally kept his teachings simple.
