“Satan”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

How is it that Satan can acquire influence and power over us? Only when we allow him to. When we yield ourselves to the things of the world, we yield ourselves to the devil. We must set aside the things of the world and turn to the things of God. Then Satan will be powerless to stop our forward progress. It is a choice. Father Lehi put it this way: “Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself (2 Nephi 2:27).
