Alma quotes the angel, speaking the angel’s words as though Alma were the angel. He does not testify of his sacred experience of the angel’s appearance, which had sent Alma back to Ammonihah after his initial failure (Alma 8:14–18), but he alludes to the angelic command and to himself as the message’s spokesman.
