“They Were Filled with the Holy Ghost”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

The trainer and his new companion went out into their proselyting area filled with the Holy Ghost and with power. With the power of the Spirit, how did they teach? Boldly! (Alma 9:7). Compare their behavior with that of the early leaders and missionaries of the Church in the Holy Land after the Holy Ghost came upon them on the day of Pentecost. Peter, John, Stephen, Philip, Paul, Barnabas, and others were changed men, and they went out, like Alma and Amulek, and taught boldly. “They were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness” (Acts 4:31; see also 4:18–20, 29; 5:29, 32, 40–42; 9:27, 29; 13:46; 14:3—every one of these passages declares that they were “bold” or taught “boldly” or “with boldness”).
