It seems strange that Alma waits until after dinner to formally declare who he is. Amulek had already proclaimed him as a prophet that was seen in a vision. Nevertheless, we don’t have the formal introduction until after the food has been consumed. Perhaps Alma required the atmosphere of the shared meal to make sure that he truly was in the home of a sympathizer, though we may suspect that the Spirit had already confirmed Amulek’s assertion of divine preparation. There is no textual explanation for this delayed introduction.
