I have speculated that Alma may have departed quickly on his mission after addressing the church in Zarahemla. (See commentary accompanying Alma 6:1.) This verse confirms that conjecture, since Yahweh reveals that Zarahemla has returned to orthodoxy. Thus, Alma had not stayed in Zarahemla long enough to see this change personally.
