These verses imply that Alma has had little or no opportunity to speak personally to this group before. His references to speaking “in my language” and “by may own mouth” indicate that as the chief judge or governor, as well as the president or presiding high priest of the Church, he had either sent his words by messengers or had his directives or sermons delivered to all parts of the land by his servants.
