“In Behalf of the Welfare of the Souls of Those Who Knew Not God”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

We should fast and pray for all people—especially for those who know not God, “For there are many yet on the earth among all sects, parties, and denominations, who are blinded by the subtle craftiness of men, whereby they lie in wait to deceive, and who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it—” (D&C 123:12).

In the Church in Zarahemla the people are commanded to meet together often. They are to fast and pray for those who know not God. Sometimes in our fasting we merely go without food. We fast without purpose. We forget to pray mightily to our Heavenly Father. If we are truly concerned for the well-being of Heavenly Father’s children, we should pray for them to know God and come unto Christ. We should pray for world leaders to make choices that will bless lives—not destroy them. We should pray for the wicked to repent. In our personal lives, we should pray to increase our faith, to show more charity to our fellowmen, and to be more obedient to the commandments of God.
