This is the only time that the term book of life appears in the Book of Mormon. The Old Testament/Hebrew Bible and several places in the New Testament (most heavily in the Book of Revelation) suggest that there is a record kept in heaven of human righteousness. In the Doctrine and Covenants (another book of Mormon scripture), it is suggested that the dead will be judged according to the record that is contained in the Book of Life, an idea that has consonance with Judaism.
