“Ye Cannot Suppose That Such Can Have Place in the Kingdom of Heaven”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

In the beginning, God decreed, or promised, Eternal Life in His Kingdom to everyone who obeyed His word and served Him well. That promise was to all His children, those who were afar, and to those who were near. God did not promise those who disobeyed Him, or who made and loved a lie, a place in that Celestial abode. He hates a liar.

The Lord is God of truth; not only is He a God of truth, but God, now and forever. No qualifying article is needed before His great name. "The LORD is God, and beside Him there is none other!" (See Numbers 23:19) God's purposes are eternal. His promises will all be fulfilled.

We, in turn, have no place in the Kingdom of Heaven if we love a lie and make it our portion. If we follow that one who is the father of lies, our place is with him in his kingdom and not with the blessed in the Kingdom of God. We are, indeed, the children of the devil in the same sense and by the same sign as the righteous are the children of God.
