“My Father Alma”

Jana Reiss

Here, Alma the Younger recalls the example of his father, whom we might call “Alma senior,” who was converted to the truth when he was, ironically enough, serving in the court of King Noah: he learned of faith and righteousness under the wicked ruler’s own roof. A prophet named Abinadi came to Noah’s kingdom to teach the gospel, and although he suffered a fate of execution, he did win a few souls before his death. These included his most important convert, Alma senior.
