“Behold”

Alan C. Miner

According to Angela Crowell, hinneh is the Hebrew word for "lo," "behold" or "see." It is used for pointing out persons, things, places and action. Hinneh occurs over a thousand times in the Old Testament Hebrew text. In English usage we consider it unnecessary. "Behold" is used frequently in the Book of Mormon and can be found on almost any page. Its common use gives evidence of a literal rendering of Hebrew into English. [Angela M.
