Normally the Book of Mormon text uses the expression “the voice of the people” (24 times), including one near the beginning of this chapter (in verse 2) and four more afterwards in this chapter (in verses 26–29). Here in verse 25, scribe 2 of 𝓟 initially wrote this phrase as “the voice of the people”, but apparently upon rereading his copy, he corrected the people to this people (with heavier ink flow, perhaps as a result of redipping his quill).

The phrase “the voice of this people” is quite possible, although infrequent in the text. There is only one other occurrence of this phrase in the text:
