These verses, along with Alma 36:12–26, provide what is likely the most graphic description we have in all of scripture of how to repent. Alma gave us intimate details of the process of repentance, recounting step-by-step the way he was spiritually born of God. Though he did not have to record all this in such detail, notice his painstaking effort to help us understand what he went through to become a new person.
