“Alma Fasted and Prayed for the Space of Two Days and Two Nights”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Fasting and praying are always involved in saving souls. One might question how Alma could thoroughly repent of all his sins in just three days and three nights (Alma 36:10, 16; 38:8). We do not know how to explain that, but we can ponder the fact that the Savior, in some grand and far-reaching way, took upon himself the sins and pains of the world in just one night—the darkest night of eternity.
