Then will those who never heard His voice and knew not His name by which the faithful are called shall come forth. They will stand before Him and be judged by Him. Then will they know that He is the Lord their God, their Redeemer whom they rejected. They once failed or refused to follow the Good Shepherd as their leader, and followed another who led them along the paths of sin and death.
The words of Alma, the younger, spell out the meaning of his father's thought, when later he said:
Therefore, if a man bringeth forth good works he hearkeneth unto the voice of the good shepherd, and doth follow him; but whosoever bringeth forth evil works, the same becometh a child of the devil, for he hearkeneth unto his voice, and doth follow him. (Alma 5:41)
