“Thou Shalt Serve Me”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
This seems less a command than a prophecy-a statement of the integrity and thus the fidelity with which Alma would operate his life thenceforth and forever. Of Nephi, the son of Helaman, the Lord said: “And now, because thou hast done this [preached the gospel] with such unwearingness, behold, I will bless thee forever; and I will make thee mighty in word and in deed, in faith and in works; yea, even that all things shall be done unto thee according to thy word, for thou shalt not ask that which is contrary to my will” (Helaman 10:5; italics added).
