As with the escape of Limhi’s people (Mosiah 22), gathering the flocks might be a nightly task, but gathering supplies for the journey would be a much larger task than normal nightly preparations. As with the Limhites, the fact that they were able to make such preparations without being seen and stopped suggests that the Lamanite/Amulonite presence in the city was limited.
