“I Will Deliver You out of Bondage”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

The time of their deliverance though it seemed to them to be long delayed, finally came. On a certain day the Lord promised them that on the morrow, "I will deliver you out of bondage." That night they were occupied in getting their flocks and provisions together, and preparing for the contemplated journey.

In the morning, when their Lamanite guards and taskmasters were in a deep sleep which the Lord caused to come over them, Alma and his people set out on their journey in the wilderness. After traveling all day, they pitched their tents in a valley which they called by the name of their leader, Alma. In the joy their newly-found freedom imparted, even the children as well as their fathers and mothers joined in praising the Lord for His goodness in bringing them from under the oppressor's heel. They knew that "none could deliver them except it were the Lord their God."
