“The Lord Did Strengthen Them That They Could Bear Up Their Burdens with Ease”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

Like Moses, Alma liberates his people from both physical and spiritual bondage. Alma’s statement concerning the theme of preserving personal and community liberty—“Stand fast in this liberty wherewith ye have been made free” (Mosiah 23:13)—depicts the operation of eternal principles in our lives. Alma also teaches the universal truth that seeking and obtaining the strength of God is what transcends mortal suffering and hardship.
