Brant Gardner

Alma makes it clear that his ultimate concern is religious rather than political. In addition to eschewing kingship, the people should not tolerate unrighteous or unorthodox teachers or ministers. Obviously he sees, as the ultimate danger, losing the relationship with Yahweh that they had so recently gained and which they had confirmed by their baptism.
